Meet The Coaches
Katie Reece
Katie Reece is a sports-minded educator and coach based in Glasgow, Kentucky. She is a high school teacher and serves as an Assistant Softball Coach at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green.
Katie brings over 30 years of playing experience to the field, having competed at the high school level, in travel ball, and in adult co-ed and women's competitive leagues. Her extensive background as a player is matched by her coaching experience, which includes high school softball, women's competitive leagues, and assisting with numerous camps, clinics, and private lessons.
Dedicate to a safety-first approach, Katie is passionate about developing well-rounded softball and baseball athletes of all ages. She focuses on building strong fundamentals, confidence, and a love for the game while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
Daryl Murphy
Coach Daryl Murphy has over 20 years of high school coaching experience. He began his softball coaching career as an assisting coach at Allen County-Scottsville in 2001. The following year he took over the softball program at Cumberland County where he won 135 games and two Class "A" championships at the same school in eight seasons.
In 2016 Coach Murphy took over the program at Barren County. During the next nine, (actually eight, lost one to covid) seasons he guided the Trojanettes to 195 wins, becoming the all-time winningest coach in BCHS Softball history. During that time with the Trojanettes won five 15th district championships and finished as 15th district runners-up twice. The 2019 squad won 31 games, the most in school history.
Coach Murphy has been voted twice by his peers as the 4th region KASA coach of the year, while also coaching players who went on to play college softball. Coach Murphy was also selected on three different occasions to lead the West All-Stars in the annual summer East/West All-Star event.
